The Happiness Boomerang

TEDx Sketch.JPG

As humans, our workloads are becoming more and more demanding, which means stress, anxiety and burnout are on the rise. In this busy, 24/7 world, our natural instinct is to give, give, give. We give to our career, our family, our future. As well as looking after ourselves, we must take care of each other during these uncertain times. That is where the happiness boomerang comes into play. We are challenging everyone to find their own happiness boomerang and throw it out into the world for the next ten days straight. This will spread kindness which is extremely contagious, and it will make people smile when they need it most. The best part of the happiness boomerang though is when it comes back to you each day you will get a massive hit of oxytocin, the love drug, which is highly addictive and life-changing.

How the happiness boomerang works. We need you to write down a list of ten people. These can be family, friends or people who have had a significant impact on your life.

Each morning when you wake up you, we challenge you to write to one person on your list a PAL message. PAL stands for proud, admire, love.

We start the message like this – G’day Andy, please don’t feel like you have to reply, but there are just a few things I would like to say to you.

Firstly, I am so proud of the work you do to assist teachers and students around the world. The content and knowledge you share weekly on your blog and socials have made an enormous impact on my life and the students I teach.

I admire your dedication and passion for improving health education across the globe. You are such a great role model that I look up to and am lucky to call a friend.

I love your energy and passion for life and would love love love to see you spin some vinyl’s one day.

Keep up the great work mate, as you have one big fan in Australia Andy, love Dale.

It’s time to get vulnerable and step outside of your comfort zone. Don’t wait for special occasions to tell people what they mean to you. Do it now, and be the shining light that is needed so more than ever. The more love, kindness and gratitude we can share into the world, the better.

You can hear Dale’s story here and you should be following him on Twitter too.
