Name It, Frame It, Claim It at #SHAPECleveland

With the SHAPE America National Convention almost upon us, I am launching a social media initiative that offers numerous advantages for both convention attendees and those engaging virtually on social platforms.

The Inspiration

Recently, on Instagram, I saw a series of posts from Adam Walker in which he asked attendees at his Podfest Expo session to record a short video summarizing their thoughts on what they learned from him. This got me thinking. What if we were to do something similar at #SHAPECleveland and encouraged educators to share their thoughts after attending each session. Surely this would promote connections and community, boost fun and engagement while also allowing those unable to attend to access key insights, connect with educators, and engage in discussions.

The Idea

After attending a conference session, coffee talk, keynote, I suggest that educators share a short video that follows this catchphrase: Name it, Frame it, Claim it!

The catchphrase encapsulates the essence of the video message initiative.

First you’ll “Name it” by clearly stating the presenter’s name and the session topic. This sets the stage for your unique insights.

Next, you will “Frame it” by providing a concise summary of the session, capturing the key takeaways and highlights. This step allows you to structure your thoughts and convey the most impactful aspects of your learning experience.

Finally, I encourage you to “Claim it” by sharing one actionable takeaway or commitment you plan to implement back in your school. This not only solidifies your personal learning but also contributes to the collective knowledge of our Health and Physical Education community. With “Name it, Frame it, Claim it!”, you can make your voice heard and your insights valued in a simple and impactful manner.

The Hashtag

Obviously, every good initiative needs a good hashtag, and for this one I’ve chosen #KnowledgeSnap.

The choice of #KnowledgeSnap was deliberate in conveying the swift and engaging capture and sharing of valuable insights during the convention. “Knowledge” reflects the educational content and insights gained, emphasizing the significance of the shared information. The term “Snap” adds a sense of immediacy, aligning with the concept of attendees quickly capturing their learning experiences in powerful, bite-sized videos. This hashtag aims to make the process dynamic and memorable.

Presenters and Vendors Can Join in Too!

Presenters can use the initiative to create brief video summaries of their own sessions, providing attendees with a sneak peek into what they can expect. This personal touch will generate excitement and encourage more attendees to join specific sessions. Moreover, presenters can share their own takeaways and insights from other sessions, fostering a sense of shared learning within the conference community.

Similarly, vendors can use the initiative to showcase their products or services in action, sharing brief insights or success stories related to educational solutions they offer. This not only adds value to the overall conversation but also creates a more engaging and interactive experience for attendees.

“Name it, Frame it, Claim it! Unleash your session takeaways with clarity. Presenter’s name, session summary, and your actionable claim – because your voice matters. #KnowledgeSnap #SHAPECleveland”
